Wisconsin Army National Guard
Chief Warrant Officer 5 Craig T. Krenz is the command chief warrant officer of the Wisconsin Army National Guard. In this capacity he is the principal advisor to the adjutant general on warrant officer policy, career management and assignments.

Command Chief Krenz is a graduate of Saint Croix High School, Solon Springs, Wis., and earned a bachelor's degree in management from Upper Iowa University. He also earned professional certification as a Certified Defense Financial Manager (CDFM). His military education includes several NCOES courses, finance and budget courses, the Warrant Officer Human Resources Technician Basic and Advanced Courses, the Warrant Officer Staff Course and Warrant Officer Senior Staff Course.

Command Chief Krenz began his military career in 1980 with the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 724th Engineer Battalion in Superior, where he served as a vehicle driver, unit clerk, personnel staff NCO and reconnaissance sergeant until 1990, when he transferred to the Headquarters State Area Command in Madison. Upon completion of the Warrant Officer Candidate Course at Fort McCoy he was appointed as a warrant officer in 1992 and served as a military personnel technician in both the Headquarters State Area Command and 232nd Personnel Services Company until November of 2008, when he joined the 32nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team for deployment to Iraq in February 2009. Upon release from active duty in 2010, he rejoined the Joint Force Headquarters and was selected as the command chief warrant officer for the Wisconsin Army National Guard. His promotion to chief warrant officer 5 was effective Sept. 6, 2011.

Command Chief Krenz began his full-time technician career in Superior as the unit administrator for HHC 724th Engineer Battalion in 1986. He transferred to HQ (-) STARC in 1990 as the officer personnel manager. He also held the positions of recruiting and retention specialist, personnel services branch chief and state budget officer before assuming his current position as the command chief warrant officer.

Command Chief Krenz's military awards and decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Meritorious Service Medal with one oak leaf cluster, the Army Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster, the Army Achievement Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the Wisconsin Army National Guard Recruiting Ribbon among others.

Command Chief Krenz is a member of the United States Warrant Officer Association, the National Guard Association of the United States, the Wisconsin National Guard Association and the American Society of Military Comptrollers.

Command Chief Krenz lives in Tomah, Wis.
