The Department of Military Affairs (DMA) is a unique and complex organization. Department Operations is
comprised of State and Federal partners that support the mission of the DMA in the areas of human resources,
budget and finance, facilities, and strategic initiatives.

Federal Human Resources Office
The Federal Human Resources Office (J1/Manpower & Personnel directorate) provides personnel support
services for the Air National Guard and the Army National Guard. This encompasses the full-time Active
Guard Reserve(AGR) and Federal Civil Service/Technicians, both "dual status" (excepted or affiliated
with the military) & "non-dual status" (competitive) employees.

The State Human Resources Office provides personnel support services for the State of Wisconsin. This encompasses
both full-time and part-time personnel employed by the State of Wisconsin. The Department of Military Affairs
employs approximately 400 permanent state classified employees.
