TYPE OF VACANCY: Permanent Classified/Full-Time
SHIFT/HOURS OF WORK: Scheduled work week is primarily an administration schedule (Monday-Friday) with shift type work of up to 56 hours per week, and may include 10, 16 or 24-hour coverage on varying schedules to include nights, weekends and holidays, depending on mission requirements.

Job Duties:
Under the direction of the Base Fire Chief, serve as the Deputy Chief for the department as well as supervising and coordinating the fire department fire inspection and prevention program. Perform duties of Fire Chief in his absence. Assist Fire Chief with the supervision of all firefighting and crash rescue operations and work activities for entire department to include other State Supervisors. Supervise and administer the operations of a crash/fire rescue shift as needed. Coordinate and perform the prevention, control and extinguishment of all types of fires on the ground and coordinate and perform related rescue, first aid and property preservation. Includes fires or potential fires involving buildings, structures, operational processes, grounds, aircraft (including military aircraft), missiles and separate or component weapons or other materials. It also includes the operation and coordination of operator maintenance of all types of firefighting and related rescue vehicles, equipment, systems and devices and services in support of overall base emergency contingency operations. Train and guide personnel. Perform all other related tasks as prescribed by the Base Fire Chief. Qualifications:
Minimally qualified candidates will have the following DoD certifications, or equivalent certifications from a program or organization that is accredited by IFSAC or ProBoard:
- Fire Officer II
- Fire Instructor II
- Fire Inspector II
- Haz-Mat Incident Commander
Well-qualified candidates will also have the following DoD certifications, or equivalent certifications from a program or organization that is accredited by IFSAC or ProBoard:
- Incident Safety Officer
- Health and Safety Officer
