What Is The Process to Join?
Step 1: Qualify
- To Qualify you must be…

- In Good Standing To Graduate High School Or Earn GED/HSED

Step 2: Complete Processing
- Make an appointment with a recruiter
- Take the ASVAB Test
- Physical Exam at MEPS (Military Processing Center)
- Choose your job – schedule a job tour with your recruiter before you enlist
- Enlist
Step 3: Basic Military Training
- 8.5 weeks long

Extra Income: Joining the ANG augments your existing income with an extra paycheck. The pay you earn by serving 2 days each month is equivalent to 4 active duty days. You may also be eligible for an enlistment bonus.
College Tuition Assistance: We offer up to 700% tuition reimbursement up to UW Madison’s rate. The ANG also offers financial assistance for college through the Montgomery/Post 9-77 G.I. Bill.
Military Retirement: For your part-time service today, you can earn a military retirement. All prior military service counts towards retirement. To be eligible for retirement, you must complete 20 years of satisfactory military service.
Medical Coverage: Members are eligible to purchase medical coverage through Tricare Reserve Select.

115th Fighter Wing

Imagine being part of the only unit in Wisconsin that flies fighter jets! With a 24/7 mission designed to protect our Wisconsin (and surrounding states) skies, the 115th Fighter Wing is the place to be. It’s currently home to fifth-generation aircraft – the F-35 Lightning II. You’ll also find F-16 Fighting Falcons from the 148th Fighter Wing on base. They’ve been supporting the 24/7 alert mission during the 115th aircraft conversion.
Airmen at the wing come from all walks of life. Their abilities to intermingle diverse backgrounds allows them to come up with state of the art ideas, solutions and processes. The 115th Fighter Wing is the premier fighter wing in the Air National Guard. If you’ve ever watched jets soar over Lambeau Field during football season, then you know first-hand the impact these jets can have!

Volk Field Combat Readiness Training Center

Volk Field Air National Guard Base is known for lighting up the skies with its annual Northern Lightning exercise. If you’ve ever dreamed of meeting people from all over the world, then this is the base you’ll want to be part of! Volk Field Airmen make it possible for all branches of service to come together to train.
As a member of this base, you’ll be the first on the flight-line watching and welcoming military aircraft as they land, and you’ll be the last on the line waving goodbye as they head home.
Choosing to become a Volk Field Air National Guard Base Airman means you’re signing up to become part of a bigger family. This base is home to a group of Airmen who are close-knit.
