Wisconsin Army National Guard

Command Sgt. Maj. Duane Weyer serves as the Wisconsin Army National Guard’s 10th State Command Sergeant Major. He enlisted in the Wisconsin Army National Guard in 1991.
Command Sgt. Maj. Weyer graduated from Loyal High School in Loyal, Wisconsin. He holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Upper Iowa University and an associate degree in automotive technology from North Central Technical College. His military education includes the Nominative Leaders Course, the Sergeants Major Academy, and Security Cooperation Management Policy, Programs and Planning Course.
Command Sgt. Maj. Weyer served as command sergeant major for the 157th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, the deputy adjutant general for civil support, 2nd Battalion, 127th Infantry Regiment, Brigade Special Troops Battalion-32nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, the 157th Military Engagement Team, and the Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa.
Previous unit assignments include the 1st Battalion, 632nd Armor Regiment, the 2nd Battalion, 127th Infantry Regiment, the 181st Infantry Brigade, the 157th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, an Embedded Training Team-Light Infantry Battalion with the 1st Infantry Division, and the Brigade Special Troops Battalion.
Command Sgt. Maj. Weyer deployed to Iraq in 2005-06, Afghanistan in 2008-09, Kosovo in 2011-12, the U.S. Central Command theater of operations (Lebanon, Jordan, Kazakhstan and Oman) in 2018-19, and Djibouti, Africa in 2022-23.
Command Sgt. Maj. Weyer has earned numerous decorations, awards and citations, to include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star with one oak leaf cluster, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with three oak leaf clusters, Army Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Army Achievement Medal with three oak leaf clusters, the Navy Achievement Medal, the Joint Meritorious Unit Award, the Meritorious unit Commendation, Combat Infantry Badge, Combat Driver Badge, Mechanic Badge, along with numerous other federal and state Awards.
