Major General Fred R. Sloan was the Air National Guard Assistant to the Commander of the Air Combat Command (COMACC) and also served as the Director of the Air National Guard Forces, Headquarters, Air Combat Command, Langley Air Force Base, VA. He was responsible for advising on all issues impacting the Air National Guard and provided administrative oversight.
Maj Gen Sloan began his military career by enlisting in the Wisconsin Air National Guard in 1971. He was commissioned that year after graduating from the inaugural Air National Guard Officer Preparatory Academy and proceeded to Laughlin Air Force Base, TX for pilot training. He served in a variety of operational, staff and command positions, to include Wing Commander. He was a command pilot with more than 6,000 flying hours.
Maj Gen Sloan was inducted into the Wisconsin Air National Guard Hall of Fame January 2011.
