We have volunteer and community partner opportunities available across the state. Volunteer time commitments are flexible. Training is provided for most positions. Service Member and Family Readiness
What is family readiness?
The state of being prepared to effectively navigate the challenges of daily living experienced in the unique context of military service by using the network of agencies, programs, services and individuals, the collaboration among them that promotes the readiness and quality of life for Service Members and their families.
Support and Services
- Provide support in the administration of Family Readiness Program services for Commanders.
- Provide assistance to commands within the geographical area of responsibility in support of the Family Readiness and Family Assistance to include execution of the program and volunteer recruitment.
- Assist military families with personal and family readiness .
- Support of Service Members and their families during all stages of the deployment cycle.
- Crisis information and support.
- Management of the Family Readiness volunteer program.
- Education on Financial Literacy and Career Readiness Support for Military Families.
Essential Services
Provides a variety of information resource referrals and non-medical administrative case management across all essential services; including but not limited to:
Crisis, Legal, Financial, TRICARE, ID Cards/DEERS, Community Information and Outreach Services, Employment/Financial Literacy, Emergency Family Assistance (EFAC), and Exceptional Family Member Programs.

Military Family Financial Aid Grant
The Military Family Financial Aid (MFFA) is a taxpayer funded program that provides grants to actively serving Service Members, and eligible Family Members, experiencing unexpected financial hardships. Service Members and their families must be a resident of Wisconsin, have experienced an unexpected financial emergency, and meet other requirements.
The forms for the grant application can be downloaded from the list below. Once you have the forms completed, or for more information on the MFFA grant, contact your Soldier and Family Readiness Support Specialist (SFRS) by calling 1-800-292-9464, option 1 during normal business hours.
Office of Financial Readiness
This U.S. Department of Defense financial‑readiness hub that helps service members and military families build strong money habits, understand their benefits, and access free personal financial counseling.
Child and Youth Program
The mission of the Wisconsin Army National Guard Child and Youth Program is to positively impact Soldier and Family readiness, resilience, and retention by providing secure, timely, flexible, and high-quality youth development opportunities and resources which promote the overall well-being of Wisconsin Army National Guard children and youth.
Our goal is to provide programs that support the social, emotional, physical, and family well-being of military youth.
Leadership Opportunities!
State Teen Panel (STP)
The State Teen Panel (STP) is made up of teenage children from WING families. The STP gives its members opportunities to develop leadership skills, mentor children on the State Kids Panel (SKP), and advocate for issues military teens and families face. Teens 13-17 years of age can participate in the STP.
State Kids Panel (SKP)
The State Kids Panel (SKP) is designed for 4th to 7th graders who come from military families. It is hosted by the STP and serves as a steppingstone for anyone interested in joining STP in the future. Those in the SKP learn about time management, self esteem, and speaking up for themselves in courses taught by the STP.

Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program
The Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program is a Department of Defense initiative that supports National Guard and Reserve members and their families by connecting them to essential resources throughout the deployment cycle.
Survivor Outreach Services
Survivor Outreach Services provides long-term support to Families of fallen Soldiers. The program connects survivors with resources who can help navigate the difficult road through the grief process.
The program connects families to resources that provide grief counseling, financial counseling, benefits coordination, and support groups in communities closest to where Families live.
Survivor Outreach Services coordinators will provide dedicated outreach and support to Families when and as long as they desire.
